Key points

  • Rockstar’s scheduled August 27 release occurred.
  • The official video runs 26 minutes and 48 seconds.
  • Rockstar says the presentation was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.

What happened on August 27

Rockstar published a follow-up notice on August 27 stating that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look was playing on Netflix. The same notice said the presentation would reach Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and GTA VI site at 9 p.m. Eastern Time that day.

The later official records show that release occurred. During the August 28 source check, Rockstar’s GTA VI media page listed the Extended Look among its official videos, and the direct YouTube record identified Rockstar Games at @RockstarGames as the channel.

How the original schedule unfolded

Rockstar’s August 6 announcement set two release times for August 27: 3 p.m. ET on Netflix, followed by 9 p.m. ET on the official YouTube channel and GTA VI site. The six-hour interval was a distribution schedule for the same presentation, not two game launches.

YouTube’s publish metadata places the official upload at about the announced 9 p.m. Eastern time. The original schedule remains useful as historical context, but viewers no longer need to treat either slot as an upcoming event.

What Rockstar says about the video

During the August 28 source check, Rockstar’s media page gave the Extended Look a duration of 26:48 and dated it August 27, 2026. YouTube’s 1,608-second metadata described the same running time.

Rockstar says the presentation was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. That description does not establish performance, final-game fidelity, feature completeness, or how the game will appear on another platform.

Where the official record appears

The release is documented by Rockstar’s dated Newswire follow-up, the GTA VI media index as checked on August 28, and the official YouTube video page. Together, those records establish the title, release date, channel identity, and duration without requiring a scene-by-scene account.

The August 27 Newswire follow-up is newer than the August 6 schedule announcement. Its release notice, combined with the dated YouTube record, resolves the earlier schedule as a completed event.

The access boundary

During an unauthenticated check from South Korea, the YouTube page returned the official metadata but required sign-in for age confirmation before playback. That observation should not be generalized to signed-in adults or viewers in other regions.

Netflix playback, regional catalogue coverage, captions, languages, resolutions, and accessibility features were not tested for this update. The historical record confirms the release sequence, not unrestricted playback through every account or service.

What this release does not confirm

The Extended Look is a promotional presentation; its release does not mean the game itself launched on Netflix. The verified source set also does not support a complete scene list, feature inventory, reception claim, or final-build comparison.

This article therefore stays within the dated release record. It does not make a current pre-order claim, state a current game release date, or promise that the video remains playable without restrictions.

Future record checks

The completed August 27 release can remain a stable historical record. A new check would be needed before claiming current playback access, or if Rockstar removes or replaces the video, corrects its availability statement, or changes the official record associated with @RockstarGames.
